Ray casting - Hyper 1 hour game jam
Ray casting has been made for the Hyper 1 hour Game Jam 2024.
The theme was "Darkness".
Game summary
You are a small round light particle. Try to climb to the top & get the flag.
Keyboard
- Arrow keys / WASD: player movements, jump
- Space: switch between light and darkness (mechanism not used because of overscope)
- Z: Toggle debug mode
Notes
I implemented a ray casting shadow engine in Game Maker.
Works well on static and dynamic objects.
In Game Maker, you must implement pretty much everything, the engine does not provide a built-in light/shadow system.
Might be useful for future projects.
Known bug
Don't collide with rotating squares with your player.
You might get stuck XD
